Oregon Wrist BP monitor
By donnabc onI have always told the nurse at my doctor's office that their blood pressure cuff is enough to MAKE my blood pressure go up (which mine is actually low so I wonder what it REALLY is)!Anyway those old fashioned cuffs are very uncomfortable.
Well, I work with terminally ill patients now and one of my patient's daughters uses this blood pressure monitor for her mom.She says she got it through Avon, but you can find it online other places as well. The cost is about $49 to $69.It slides onto the wrist and with minimal difficulty and discomfort takes the blood pressure, pulse and mean arterial pressure (whatever that is) with just a touch of a button.
One of the coolest things about this monitor is that it TALKS to you.Once the daughter took her OWN pressure and it said the reading and then told her to go to her doctors office right away.Yesterday when she took her mother's blood pressure while I was there, it said the reading and then something like "according to the World Health Organization this is within normal limits."Nice, huh?So someone with impaired eye sight could use this too since it talks to you :0)...in fact, even I could use this :0)

A talking blood pressure monitor, now that is something fun to use. I would definately buy this.
Cool product. Never heard of a talking blood pressure monitor!
Mean arterial pressure is just the average of systole and diastole which are the high and low numbers you always hear... like 140/90 for example. The move involved people get with monitoring their own bodies, the better, I think!
This sounds like a great unit. I like that it has an audible response, in case someone can't read the readout. Thanks for sharing your experience with this product!
sounds nice, will look into it for family members I think..thanks!
A talking wrist cuff is a great idea! I can see that many people would benefit from this device.
Great idea. A bet this works well with the elderly who can't see too well.
OH I like that this talks and sounds so much easier than the arm cuff models. This would have been great for my dad who had trouble seeing the other type models. thanks for sharing.
That sounds really terrific!! I can't believe it takes to you. While I was pregnant my blood pressure was high so I borrowed my grandmothers to keep an eye on it. I think mine would have said "umm, you should be dead!" lol. But it was usually ok as long as I wasn't a nervous wreck like at the doctors office.
This must be so much more comfortable than the arm cuffs which I hate. The higher your BP, the tighter the cuff gets and it hurts! i'll look into this one for sure.
