Original Movie Poster Dixie 1943 By Zula on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

We're always looking for something unusual for our antique business. Recently, we had the opportunity to attend an estate sale representing a lifetime collection of movie memorabilia, which included cameras, movie posters, movie reels and much more. It was like a journey back in time!

We purchased a few antique cameras and several great movie posters from the 1940's. The posters include "Dixie", "Last of the Mohicans", "Dakota" {1945} with John Wayne, "Pirates on Horseback" {1941}, one with Hopalong Cassidy and another with Clark Gable.

My favorite poster is from the movie "Dixie" in 1943, starring Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour. The graphic art on this poster is beautiful. Over the years, many movie posters have been damaged or destroyed, so it was nice to find this poster in such great condition.

To safely display the "Dixie" poster, we purchased a 27" x 41" aluminum frame with foam core backing to stabilize it. The cover lens is UV filtering, so the poster is protected from the light. After framing, the poster looks amazing!

Today, collectors are looking for good quality movie posters. They can be found at estate sales, antique malls, trade shows, and on-line. Prices vary depending on condition and rarity. Vintage movie posters represent an important time in American movie history!
