OTC Rosacea Treatment
By moonbeam973 onThis is definitely better than using nothing at all, but it is not as effective as the topical prescription I was using. My prescription had long since expired and was no longer effective, so I went in search of an over-the-counter remedy. This is the only thing I could find, and not everyone carries it. It comes in a .75 ounce tube and, according to the box, the product is "fragrance-free, won't clog pores, moisturizing, alcohol-free, non-comedogenic, and non-oily." I agree with all of those claims - the product doesn't have a noticeable odor to it, it doesn't seem to cause breakouts, it has moisturized the skin on my cheeks (they had gotten pretty dry from allowing my rosacea to go untreated), and the texture is nice. It absorbs quickly, without leaving skin feely greasy. The active ingredient is sulphur, but it also contains acrylates, aloe, urea, lactose, parabens, tetrasodium EDTA, triethanolamine, and water. The product claims to reduce redness, bumps, and dryness. As I stated previously, it has treated the dryness, so that's a big relief. I didn't really have any bumps, so I cannot make any statements regarding that claim. I have been using this for about 3 weeks, and it doesn't seem to be as effective at reducing redness as my prescription product was.
