Our Kenmore Did Not Live Up To Expectations By JennEm on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Kenmore refrigerator in the house where I grew up lasted 20 years. That's why when I was buying a refrigerator for my own first home, I headed to Sears to pick up a Kenmore.

Things have changed.

The refrigerator we bought was a side-by-side model in white with a freezer on the left and a fridge on the right. The warranty lasted a year. We hoped we'd have this fridge much, much longer than that.

It kept things cold, it's true, although I quickly discovered that the side-by-side models are not for me. It seems like the freezer is going to have a lot of space but once you get the ice maker in there, it really doesn't. I could easily get more into my top freezer at my apartment than I could into this one.

A year after we had this fridge, the freezer stopped freezer. A repair person came out and charged us $200 for a quick fix. He said that the real problem was the door, and that would cost $500 to fix! We waited until it broke again, and then we bought a new refrigerator.
