Our Solar System By Peter Riley Forward by NASA
By cnt24 onOur Solar System ISBN 0-88705-949-X by Peter Riley is an excellent book for children to introduce them to the solar system. What makes this book different is not so much the information it holds but the way it is presented. It is formatted as a see-through picture book. Each picture layers over another and presents a pictorial view of how the solar system comes together.
For what it is, a childrens book, its packed full of information, graphical representations, real-life photographs, and facts.I found this book drawing me in just as much as it did my daughter when she received it.
The information is easy to read. The pictures, graphs, and artwork truly enhance the information. You are introduced to the solar system as it was in the beginning, dust and gas, and quickly moved to what it is today. Each page highlights one planet until the last, which goes Beyond Our Solar System.
There are only 17 pages. This book is durable enough for a small child. It is similar in page structure to a toddlers cardboard book. The font is large, clear, and crisp even though much of the print is over images.
Being such a short book, it really packs a punch and gives you a great overview of Our Solar System.
