Outer Banks Sailcloth Jacket By GoDigital on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Outer Banks makes products that I have always been pleased with. One of their products I am proud to own is a their Sailcloth Jacket, model 5510. I have owned several of these over the years, and the design, quality, and cost of this product meets my satisfaction every time.

I have worn this jacket through a variety of rough weather, and time and time again the jacket has held up to the elements of nature. The material is made of extra heavy duty material, with the outside fabric consisting of 70% cotton and 30% Nylon Oxford. The inside lining of the jacket is extremely comfortable, being 100% cotton poplin. The jacket is wind and water resistant, and very easy to clean.

One excellent feature of the jacket is its hidden hood, equipped with a draw cord. The hood can be easily rolled up in to the collar, and can quickly be rolled out if needed. Nice deep pockets are another great feature. There is a left chest passport pocket and a right chest pocket with a button enclosure located inside the jacket. The outside hand pockets on the right and left side each have zippers, as well as storm flaps to help protect anything you may have inside. The overall design of the jacket makes it simple to add any embroidery if necessary, and is available in 5 different color combinations, sizes small through 3x.

Outer Banks has gone through some changes since the company was founded in 1983. They first introduced great quality knit shirts, catering to the wholesale sportswear market. In 1998 the company unveiled a new outerwear line of clothing. Shortly after, the Sara Lee Corporation acquired Outer Banks and merged with Hanes Printables. All this led to another new collection of clothing, Outer Banks Reserve, offering a more sophisticated line of sportswear. In 2006, Hanesbrands Inc formed as an independent company from the Sara Lee Corporation and continues to offer a fantastic selection of innerwear, outerwear, and sportswear clothing. You can learn more about the company and browse through their catalog at the official Outer Banks website.

Next to Lands End and LL Bean, Outer Banks is definitely a contender. They offer really well constructed and durable clothing at what I consider reasonable prices.
