I actually have two of these oven mitts, one is light tan in color, purchased earlier, and the other dark red. I had burned myself countless times handling hot stuff prior to owning these, even it I used oven mitts; I guess I'm just prone to it. With Pampered Chef oven mitts I feel very well protected. They are long, almost 16 inches, and cover my arm almost all the way to the elbow. They are also very thick and durable. The tan one is more easily stained; the dark red is a newer design and it has additional protection for the thumb and hand areas. I often use two of them together when I need to move something not only hot but large and heavy, so I hold it with both hands.
The oven mitts are machine washable. Being so thick, they take quite a long time to dry, so I always make sure I will not need them soon when I wash them. Washing and drying does not seem to wear them out, they remain thick and durable.
This is a high quality item that will last for years.

Pampered Chef really puts out a lot of good stuff. I'll have to look at these, because I've stated to get my fingers burnt through my old ones.
