Anyone who is familiar with Pampered Chef knows about their cooking stones. They are famous for their pizza stones. I have a round pizza stone that I use a lot. The best thing about the pizza baking stone is that it bakes so evenly. It is really hard to burn anything unless you really work at it or forget that it is in the oven. They are made out of clay and although they are not pretty they do a wonderful job of baking your pizzas and cookies to perfection.
You want to take care when cleaning your baking stone. You are not supposed to use dish soap on them because they absorb the flavor of the soap. YOul don't have to worry about bacteria though because the baking kills all bacteria.
The downside is that they are cumbersome, breakable, and heavy. They are also not inexpensive unless you buy them at a party or have a home party of your own. In spite of the disadvantages I love mine.

I have heard about these before but have never seen one. Sounds like a great tool for baking pizza! I always seem to have an unevenly cooked pizza no matter what pan I use. I think I might have to check one of these out. I can deal wtih a little heaviness if that means a great pizza! :o)
My family is known for their burning prowess - even with the baking stone (we have the triangular one), but I do have to admit it does give me a better percentage of non-burned items.
