Paper Shredder...Or Paper Weight??? By cafn8me on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I thought that this inexpensive shredder would be just the thing to help me manage the constant flow of papers that my house is flooded with. I wasn't looking for something that would cross-cut cardboard sheets or shred 20 pieces of paper at a time. Just a good, solid little shredder that could sit unobtrusively under my desk at home and be available whenever I needed it.

At first, this shredder ran great...seldom jamming or sticking. And it did its job....for all of about 6 weeks! Then, one day I tried to shred some junk mail that I had received. I fed a single piece of paper into the shredder and - NOTHING! My nifty little shredder had stopped working, and I couldn't get it started again.

My advice: spend a bit more on a better model. You'll avoid the hassle that comes with this piece of junk!

Oh, that was pretty dismal performance, even for a cheap model. Sorry about your experience, but thanks for letting us know!

Even for that price it should have lasted longer. Was there no guarantee with it?

Sometime cheaper means more headaches. This is a true testament to the fact that just because it is cheap does mean it is a bargain. I am sorry it didn't work for you. Thanks for sharing the honest information.

Also, I find ripping any identifying numbers, letters on anything that would be "shredded" and putting the parts in different waste baskets or even different weeks of pick=up of garbage, is just as good. Just a thought.

I paid $26 for my Dynex last year. It still works fine. I dont put GUMMED paper through it though. Envelopes are not good on shredders. Maybe it was that junk mail that made your Dynex go down. That one is hard to say. Hope your next one is a better shredder. :)

I hate when sutff like this just quits working - you'd think for $25 it would be able to handle light duty work!
