Pasta Saturday. By Jami on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Hi All. When Alex and I moved to Australia we felt a bit alone, of course we had hubby's family and they are absolutely fantastic, but girls don't we all need a best girlfriend? YES. Well hubbys family is Italian(Sicilian even) and Nonna wanted to teach me to cook Italian but her english is broken at best, bless her heart, so she introduced me to a really good friend of the family, who later became Alex's God mother. She took on the task of teaching me to cook Italian and the first thing she told me to go and buy for myself was a pasta machine. I got the Modern Living Pasta Machine from Target. It works a treat. It comes with a clamp that you attach it to the bench and just feed the dough in from the top. Clean up is a breeze as well(provided you get your dough correct) all you have to do is brush it with a wisk broom. It allows you to choose many different thickness to make things such as tagatelli, fettuccini, ravioli and lasagna sheets. We are just on 5 years now and this has become more of a visit now than a cooking lesson, and she has become my very best friend. The whole family looks foward to the first Saturday of each month because we know it is pasta Saturday. So if you look at your calendar...today is pasta Saturday. Gotta Go Cheers
