Pear Emerald With Diamonds Makes A Beautiful Birthstone Ring By JPnMO on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

As long as I can remember, I have wanted a birthstone ring. Year after year I lusted over them, but never got one.

A few years ago, I received this ring as a gift. I absolutely love it. It was designed for me and it was exactly my taste. I couldn't have done better if I had picked it out myself.

The ring is 18kt yellow gold with a pear shaped emerald with three round diamonds on each side. The stone is a Columbian emerald, which is darker than any emerald I had seen before. The emerald is .77ct and the diamonds are .22ct.

This ring is my favorite piece of jewlery, other than my wedding rings. It's gorgeous and dainty.

When I wear it, I see many people look at it, but very few ever mention it. A jeweler explained to me that the darker color emerald may look fake to someone who doesn't know much about emeralds. (The color is a bit darker than it looks in the picture.) Each time I walk into a jewelry store, I get many compliments on it and questions about where I got it.

It took many years to get my birthstone ring, but as it turned out, it was worth waiting for.
