Pedigree Frame Ball Best Dog Toy, Hard To Find By Joan Young on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
The Pedigree Frame Ball is my dog's favorite toy. In fact it's really the only one she ever wants to play with. The first one lasted 9 years, and fortunately I had bought a spare when I found them a couple of years ago, because we had to get out the new one this year.
The Frame Ball is like a hollow ball with three large sections of that ball cut away leaving “handles” formed by the remaining sections of the ball. See picture! The ball is made of hard rubber, and is incredibly durable. It will bounce when thrown (although as it ages the bouncing may get strange, but the dog doesn't care!). You can use it for tug-of-war. It is easy for the dog to pick up and carry.
In fact the only reason this toy didn't need to be replaced sooner is that I was very diligent to not let the dog carry the ball on walks away from the house, or I'm sure it would have been lost long ago. She just wants to take it everywhere! We call it the “red ring,” and the sentence “Get your red ring” has her scrambling to find where she left it, and she almost always knows exactly where that is!
In fact the last time I found some, I bought several and gave them as gifts to friends with dogs, and every dog loves it!
The Frame Ball has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches, so it is too large for very small dogs. I suggest 40 pounds and above.

I have three welsh corgis and they can tear even the most durable toy apart. We go through soccer and basketballs even. This sounds like a toy I've been looking for - something easy for them to carry (they bump the balls with their nose and it makes them raw), yet they won't tear it apart after 2 days of tug-o-war. the fact that it appears you can throw it in the water is another plus. Maybe we can find one on ebay? thanks.
Now this looks like a toy my Jack Russel could keep in good shape for awhile :) Thanks for the info on it
