Pedigree With Chunky Chicken: Tail Wagging Taste! By Pogo on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Pedigree brand provide dogs with a somewhat nutritious, soy-free, canned food. Iti is one of the few brands that both of my dogs will eat. I would have to say that their favorite would have to be Pedigree's with Chunky Chicken.

IS THIS A GOOD DOG FOOD?

My sister says she buys dog food by looking at the label, and seeing if she would feed it to her family! She does all sorts of odd things BUT if I were to use that thinking, I would NOT buy this food for a couple of reasons. One we don't eat red meat and even though this is CHICKEN beef is on the list. Now, my dogs DO eat beef so that really isn't an issue for them. BUT the ingredient meat by-products could be from just about ANY animal and that is gross even for dog food. And if you add in the poultry by-products that is also listed, one really has to wonder just what is in this food?

That being said, Pedigree With Chunky Chicken Canned Food for Dogs does have Calcium and phosphorus (for strong teeth and bones), Omega Fatty Acids, added vitamins and my vet's stamp of approval for them to eat - but only now and then. And the fact that they really do like the taste does need to be weighed in.

I wouldn't feed my dogs this food daily because of some of the questionable by-products, I do give them a couple of cans a month. They are always excited to get it and finish it right down. Everyone needs to read the ingredients (listed below) and then make the decision if Pedigree With Chunky Chicken is something you want your dogs to eat. If my dogs had it there way, they'd have it everyday!

I agree, this is a pretty nasty looking dog food.... poultry by products are bad enough (could be chicken feet, beaks, feathers...) but meat by products could be just about anything, including dead and diseased animals and roadkill! It really pains me to see this kind of food on the shelves for animals...
