PediPaws Pet Nail Trimmer
By bamabride onI was excited when I purchased my PediPaws. My husband and I recently bought a new couch set so we were hoping this gadget would be a cinch in keeping the nails trimmed on our four cats to avoid constant scratching.
Our cats hate having their nails trimmed and keeping them still is a chore. It's basically a grinder so you would think it would be easy ... however read on ...
Before you can actually use this product you first must accustom your pet to the PediPaws. Unless he or she is in a coma, your pet will absolutely despise the sound and vibration of it. Don't let that deter you! As the caring, dedicated pet owner that you are, you will persevere!
After one very long week, we learned all of our cats refused to do the same ...
The experience revealed some drawbacks with the PediPaws: It files the nail in miniscule amounts at a time and can only be used in bursts of seven seconds or so. (If used longer, the heat generated through friction could injure your pet.) If your pet's nails are overlong, this project could take you days---maybe weeks. Even if the nails were recently trimmed, you will have to constantly file them to maintain that length. It also uses batteries and has one speed ... SLOW. I would have preferred a corded one instead. It also has a safety guard that blocks your view, and is bulky and awkward. In the future we will stick to the clippers and file ... or have their nails trimmed at the vet.
As for myself, I intend to keep it and, during evenings while watching TV, I will file my own nails. It is my hope that its sound, vibration and heat will remind me to never again purchase anything that is: "As Seen On TV."

I have been curious about this product...
Ah the wonders of as seen on TV. They never seem to work as good as you'd hope.
My daughter actually got this to work for our Jack Russel - I didn't have much luck though and our cat - well she's like yours, despises it. Thanks for the honest info, it's pretty much my view too.
We were talking about this last night. I think my dog would have a nervous break down if we got this near her. :) I resorted to taking mine to the vet because its so easy to hit a vain and hurt the dog. Now as she is older she plays outside a lot and that seems to wear them down enough.
I keep hearing horrible things about this product-I'll add this to my list!!! LOL!
I have wondered how well this thing worked. I can see how it would be horrible to use on an animal who is afraid of noises.
Gosh, I too have wondered if his worked. In fact, I just saw it on my lunch at Bed, Bath & Beyond, you painted a very vivid picture and I think I will leave it leave it on the shelf at the store!
Very to the point. I loved the line "unless he or she is in a coma".
We all learned a valuable lesson. Thanks for saving me from yet another of life's little disappointments.
Great information! I had considered this for my Lab, but knew she'd never sit still for this. Thanks for verifying what I was already thinking.
