Pentax K10D

So here is my review of Digital SLR named Pentax K10D.
This camera is for advanced users who prefer to set up camera by their own standarts. Well at this point pentax is great. But lets look quickly what it contains in package:
1. K10D body

7. USB , video cables.
8. Neck strap
9. 18-55mm lens.
The body.
K10d is weather-sealed camera. That means it is protected from waters and falling down shock. The camera is very robust while grip is ideal . K10d is really heavy -about 800 grams (battery incl.) but very comfortable. On the back there is 2.5"display - bright and clear . On the top there issmaller monochrome display which is useful for sunny days. Buttons are comfortable easy to push.
The lens.
18-55mm kit lens is better than most competitors has. Well it lacks a bit of sharp effect on 55mm range. But all in all it is perfect lens to learn with. Later plan to buy new one .
Performance.
Well it is hard to decide am I happy with it or not. While there is plenty settings which let you to create to set up camera as you want and even few unique modes it doesn't mean perfect quality.
You see you will be really disappointed with its performance if straight out of box. Jpeg compression is too high in my opinion and the result is very soft pictures . you better shoot raw and then work it on computer with Adobe camera raw. Coverted RAWs are very good quality believe me it is a very very good quality . but sometimes there is no time enough to play with them sothat is dissapointing.
AF speed is fast but not as fast as nikon or canon . Indoors and low light situations can be difficult for pentax as it is hunting for focus.
I prefer nikon and canon final jpeg output.
Battery.
Enough to take about 500 shots(read above average).
Conclusion.
Even jpegs are soft and AF is not accurate and fast there is just something about pentax K10D. It has something that makes it stand out and even more-like it. Yeah , it is bargain it has lots of features it is robust and each day you find new tips how to work with pentax. I LIKE IT despite being a bit dull in producing jpegs.
