Perfect First Puzzles!
By traceyb22 onMy son received this puzzle as a gift last Christmas.It has been the perfect first puzzle for him.Like all Melissa & Doug products, it's has hand-painted graphics and is made of wood.This puzzle is shaped like a fish bowl and has 3 large pieces - a sea turtle, a goldfish, and a crab.The pictures are painted under the pieces so they can be easily matched and they have large wooden knobs to pull the pieces out with.
From the beginning my son loved this puzzle.He didn't have the motor skills to actually position the pieces and put them back in, but he loved to carry them around and look at them.He also discovered that they make great noise if you bang them together or on other things.Now that he is older he can easily "work" this puzzle. He is also able to work puzzles with smaller pieces and smaller knobs.I think this one prepared him for the ones that are alittle harder.
These puzzles are for ages 1 and up.There are other themes available besides the fishbowl.Some of them are Barnyard Animals, Pets, Shapes, and Jungle Friends.If you are looking for a great puzzle for someone who is a year old, I suggest the Melissa & Doug Jumbo Knob Puzzles.

This brand of puzzle started out my son's love of puzzles! We had the house and the one with cars on it, he too loved to bang the pieces together LOUDLY.
We have a couple of the Melissa and Doug jumbo puzzles. My daughter loves them!
My older daughter loves puzzles! I need to find some more for her - this sounds like a great one for my younger daughter to learn to love them just as much as her big sis!
Melissa & Doug has great products for kids. My son had some blocks that were very good quality.

My son is 2 1/2 but he still loves doing these puzzles. It really helped him learn his animals, letters, and cars. I'd never hesitate to buy a Melissa and Doug product. Great quality.
