I bought Philips GoGear 1GB mp3 player online. So I got a big discount on the price. Since it was the first player I was going to buy I thought 'the simpler the better'. So I bought this one. It has 1GB memory which means it can store about 450 songs. The headphones come with an FM tuner which has separate button cell. One drawback is that the player runs on alkaline batteries. This increases the maintainence cost. I think rechargeable Li-ion batteries would have been better. The battery life decreases if the backlight is on. The sound quality is great. The pack comes with a CD containing drivers and support. A USB extension cable is included to connect the player to your PC. It impresses with its design and size. It can easily slip into your pocket. You can register your product on the Philips website. This way you'll get latest firmware updates for the player. I got the player on discount from HomeShop18. But the actual price is Rs.4500($111). Remember the player cannot store copyright protected songs. The player gives ID-3 Tag support i.e, song title and artist name.
