Photo Impression 6: Not Such A Good Impression. By Gayle Parks on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My impression of Photo Impression 6 is that it does an okay job but could be better. First, the positives. It does an acceptable job of scanning in photos using my HP printer/scanner and is perfectly fine for scanning every day photos of good quality. It does an equally good enough job of downloading digital photos from my camera. It has the common tools for photo retouch and editing such as red eye removal, brightness/contrast, healing brush, etc. And it offers creativity options like frames and borders, edges and cookie cutters. But, and here is the it could be better part.

It was very confusing to learn and the help feature is sorely lacking. The clipboard feature is awkward to use because it requires multiple openings and closings of different windows. The view feature is just plain annoying because you have to close the view window and re-open in order to do any editing.

Overall, it does an acceptable job but I liked Photo Impression 4 better. At least I didn't spend extra money for this software because it came with my computer.

I just wish Photoshop weren't so pricey and so complex, because it is hands down the best out there. My experiences with included photo software is that they are really too generic and clumsy to use.

I have come to the conclusion that a lot of the new software that comes out is not as good as the old software. I don't know if it's just because I'm so USED to the old software and I'm not willing to change, or if it truely isn't better. I'm gonna go with the later. I haven't heard of this certain type of software before but at least it lets you do the main stuff without much hassle. Too bad on the help feature though.

If it's confusing to learn, it is NOT for me :0) I am too impatient! It sounds very frustrating. I will have to steer clear of this one. Thanks for the information.

I suggest Paint Shop Pro as a middle-of-the-road photo software program. Sorry you had such a lousy experience. I agree, I don't think Photo Impression does very much.

Sounds like this has all the things I am looking for in a program but I appreciate you letting me know this one is confussing to learn. I an not great with computers so I need something super easy. Thanks.

It must be disappointing when you get free software with your computer and then find it is not easy to use.
