Pink Panther 2006
By Rancosto onSteve Martin stars as Inspector Clouseau... The role is a challenge as it will be inevitably compared to Peter Sellers's performance, loved by many. I have not watched that one for a very long time, so I was able to take a more or less unprejudiced look at this new version. I would describe it as a rather mediocre comedy that survives only because of Steve Martin. His antics as the bumbling cop trying to find the stolen diamond known as Pink Panther are funny to watch, although some of the humor is of poor taste. His instant love for hamburgers (even though he can't pronounce the word) is hilarious. Of course, the major pun of the story is Clouseau's incapability and clumsiness while he thinks himself very competent. Predictably for this kind of stories, he solves the crime nevertheless, despite the chief of police himself (Kelvin Kline) being interested in the opposite and hindering him.
Will this movie become a new classic? I doubt it. But Steve Martin fans will gladly add this one to their collection of his fine performances.

You know, I never did watch this movie. I really need to check it out. Movies, in general, are pretty predictable these days but still interesting.
I have not seen this whole movie but I did see a scene of this movie on Starz and thought it was really stupid how they made the inspector a complete moron!
