I was born in the Netherlands and immigrated here at the age of 9. One of my passions is collecting anything to do with Sinterklaas (or St. Nicholas), the white horse he rides, and his side kick, Zwarte Piet (or Black Peter). I have found very few artists that do this version of Santa, much less this entire grouping. The only artist I have found is Pipka and her work is absolutely brilliant as far as attention to detail and coloring. I have the now retired Sinterklaas riding his horse (11" high), Black Peter, 6" high and also Hans & Katrinka on their sled (6" high). This set is the centerpiece of my collection. I also have this set in miniature from Pipka along with the single 5" Netherlands Santa. Pipka makes Santas from every country worldwide. She takes the heritage of each one and makes it into a figurine so beautiful it can only come from someone that loves what she does. Each figurine is cast in cold resin and painted to perfection for many years of collector's enjoyment. There is a santa for any heritage, check out Pipka's line in your area.
