Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End 2 Disc By gallaure on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
In general, I buy whatever widescreen, multi-disc dvd that is released for my favorite films, which is the case here. I like the extra fun stuff, with behind-the-scenes features and other bonuses. This movie itself was good (much better than POTC2... ugh!), and almost equalled the first Pirates of the Caribbean as a fun movie. I liked the quirky weird bits, and sighed while trying to overlook the really lame ones. There are a lot of quirky moments, and yes, a lot of lame ones. And, yes, Johnny Depp saves the show! The storyline is intriguing and adventurous, which I like. The costumes and fight scenes are awesome, and the ending makes me sad. (but be sure to watch after the credits are over!!) The extra disc features several short featurettes, an anatomy of a scene type dissection of the maelstrom sequence, and some interactive bits on pirate history/wishstory. My favorite featurettes were the ones on Chow Yun Fat (in subtitled Cantonese), Keith Richards on set (with interviews with Keith & Johnny together, and a lovely guitar solo), and the one with how they did the multiple-Jack Sparrow sequence. Is the 2-disc special edition better than the regular one? Unless you're a movie nerd like me, probably not.
