Planet Earth Amazes By kateri27 on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

Planet earth is a series of documentaries that BBC television created over the course of five years with over 40 cameramen capturing 200 different locations. It is a hard a gritty look at the hidden wonders on Earth.

Their are five different DVDs each containing two or three episodes. The first 48 minutes of each episode contains impressive camera work and stop action photography. Take for instance the video on Jungles. It shows life in the jungle, what birds are there, their bizarre mating rituals, frogs, and the forests. the final twelve minutes of each episode contain the making of the episode. A fascinating behind the scenes look at how they manager to get that close to the creatures of the earth.

You really learn while watching these videos. I was not interested in the least bit and actually rented this from the library for my husband, but I have been faithfully watching each and every episode for the past two weeks.

I would recommend this video to anyone with some time to spare that is interested in learning more about the planet we live on. I rented this from the library so I have no idea how much it would cost to purchase this collect. For me, although brilliant and informative, watching it once is enough.
