Play Sand!
By karlawmcdonald onWe bought this sand at ofcourse...Wal-Mart! We got .4 cubic feet, or 40 pounds for only $3.33 a bag!
We originally bought 300 pounds for our sons portable basketball goal, but after seeing the quality and smoothness we purchased more for Tuggy The Tug Boat, his sandbox toy.
This sand we purchased was in white and there were not any large clumps even though the bags had been left out in the rain at Wal-Mart and that surprised us.
For the portable basketball goal we took a funnel and funnelled it into the base and little of no time we had the 300 pounds in the base. Thats when we knew it was a good quality sand at a very reasonable price.
The sand has kept the clean white color so far. There were not any rocks in any of the bags that we found.
I have also used some of this sand in my flower beds when putting out new plants.
If you are needing sand for smaller projects I do suggest this brand, they do have different colors but as I said we chose the white.

I'll bet it came from my "back yard." Most of that wonderful white sand is "mined" here in Michigan.
I brought some of this for my son's sandbox when he was younger. It is great play sand.
My daughter loves making sand castles so this would be great for her.
My sister uses this in the kids sandbox. It is great play sand.
Great information. I love to know that the sand is good quality at a great walmart price. We need to get more sand for our sandbox and I think walmart is calling my name.
This reminds me of the beach (where I would like to be right now!)
We've usede this sand in turtle boxes and in our garden to help bust up clay soils better. At WalMarts price it is a very good value.
We bought th pink sand this year. Love the colors.
I guess I never thought about where my parents got the sand for my sandbox as a kid. Maybe they brought it from the beach! I would have loved to have had a color though.
I bought this sand at walmart and when it dried it was dusting as high as my house. The warning says don't breath the dust because it is cancer causing. All my bags where bad and when I went to walmart to purchase a safer crayola sand the Kolorscape white playsand had been replaced with Kolorscape washed playsand. Please don't let your children play in the dust. Not all sand is dusty and any dust is not good for a young childs lungs.
