Playskool Walk N Ride By Jessica Yamaguchi By Jessica Yamaguchi on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My son is almost 9 months old and of course climbing on everything and walking along holding onto the couch and whatever else he can hold onto and “follow”. We saw this Play School Step Start Walk N' Ride while we were shopping the other night and made an impulse buy.

The Step Start Walk n' Ride is very cute , shaped very similarly to a Volkswagen Bug and has bright colors and a few extra little activities for baby to play with ( spinning gadgets, clicking noise makers, “gear shifter” mini trunk that opens). It is all plastic and a very simple design.

It is a 2 in 1 toy. The back is supposed to lock into an upright position making it into a toy that baby can push along like a lawnmower...Helping them walk along while having something to hold on to. There's a handle for baby to hold when you lock this into place.

It is also a ride on toy. You just unlock the back from the upright position and it converts into a little ride on car.

I will start by saying that assembly was super easy. Everything just snaps into place and there were only 4 or 5 actual screws to put in.

My son seems to enjoy this toy. He does walk along behind it. Plays with all the little gadgets and will ride on the “car” if you help him. He did showed more interest in this toy when we first brought it home…now he just likes to bang other toys on it and play with the spinner.

The car seems a little smaller than we wanted…or maybe my son is just a big boy…The box says the weight limit is up to 42 lbs and my son is about 27 lbs. He fits on this really well now so I don't know how long this will actually work for him!

The age suggested is for 9 months and up.

We have no REAL complaints.. this is an ok toy. It's not as heavy duty as some of the others of it's type . The plastic is just not as thick/heavy duty as we would like.

We paid approximately $26 for this toy at Wal-mart.

Although we think this toy is OK…it would not be one of my top recommendations for a walk behind or ride on toy.

I remember the day. Back then they did not have the colors or face shapes. They were just scooters. I think this is a cute toy!

My oldest got something like this when she was little for a birthday. I like how it helped her get around better and helped develop her walking skills faster. The one we had lasted for both kids and got carried away after 8 years of full abuse. I would totally have one of these when my grandkids come alone in about 8 years (guessing??). Great Pictures!!!
