Playstation 3: The Next Gen System Of My Choice By swood on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Playstation 3 is a "Seventh Generation" console, and is directly competing with the other home consoles, the Nintendo Wii and the XBox 360. As the last of the three consoles to be released, and the most expensive, it was off to a slow start. However, console sales are picking up across the globe and the game selection is slowly improving. It's blu-ray playing capabilities, internet access, and the upcoming "home" platform define it as more than a video game system, but more of a home enertainment system. Some of the games I really enjoy on it include Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, Resistance: Fall of Man, Motorstorm, and Unchartered: Drake's Fortune. Currently you can most easily find the 40gb and the 80gb versions of the system, I'd recommend the 80gb version because it has superior backwards compatibility (to include PS1 and PS2 games). I strongly believe that the PS3 will be considered 'the' next generation platform for serious gamers by the end of 2008.
