Playstation Portable, A Good Buy? By Nicholas Harrell on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

With the release of the PSP, sony tried to dominate the handheld market held all these years by Nintendo. The psp is essentially a portable playstation 2. Same graphical abilities, and a lot of game ports. When I got ahold of one, I was excited by the chance to play PS2 quality games on the road. But the lack of games and firmware releases by sony have made it difficult. The game selection for the psp is laughable. Most games are re releases of older ps2 games, or older games with graphical enhancements. Too many sports games too. The firmware sony releases ever few monthes make modding of the psp hard to do, and also you have to update whenever you buy a new game or want to be online. The wi fi set up is easy to use though for the psp to play online. The analog stick on the psp to me is very flimsy though, and I wish it was more like the ps2 controller. The sound quality is ok, and games run great on it. Its an excellent buy if you like ps2 games and sports games on the go, but if you are a serious gamer looking for newer original games, look somewhere else.
