Please Do Not Buy This Laptop. By njchessboy on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

Please do not buy this laptop. I bought it in october and I have not been happy for one second. For the $899 that I paid for it its specs were madiocre at best. The screen is a low resolution and has lines of stuck pixels running down the screen. The laptop is always having problems returning from sleep and changing resolutions. The backlit keyboard is CONSTANTLY failing and the fingerprint reader is also. The Touch buttons on the top work half of the time at best. The touch pad is annoyingly off center and is very sticky. Within a month of everyday use of my laptop 3 of the 4 USB ports died. The case is constantly falling apart in multiple places. Dell has done NOTHING to fix this despite numerous calls to thier tech people. There are a few pros and they are as follows: DECENT graphics card, comfortable keyboard and OK battery life. The slot loading DVD drive is nice to have but having it near the power button is a terrible idea. The pattern near the keypad is obnoxious and unnecessary. Please do not waste your money on this laptop.

I sympathize with you. I switched to a Mac a few years back and haven't looked back.

"I sympathize with you. I switched to a Mac a few years back and haven't looked back." If I had the money switching to a macbook would be my ffrst move. But when I bought this they still had the integrated graphics and I need a semi-powerful gaming machine.

hi i have the same computer, i think you just got really unlucky the only problem i have had with mine is the touch cd eject button is lit up a lot of the time. I got mine with great hardware and it has been excelent. i wonder if they dropped the computer in the factory or something

Wow, thought you were talking about my HP Pavilion for a second - the only difference is the name - and the word "crap" suits mine perfectly too ;) Sorry you've gotten such a dud - hope your next purchase is premo. Thanks for the honest info

I have a Dell Studio 17 that I purchased in December 2008 and I couldn't agree more. TOTAL PIECE OF CRAP, I may never buy a Dellweed again due to this thing, it is proof that you can shine a turd.
