Pledge Multi Surface Wipes By Cafn8me By cafn8me on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
As a member of a word-of-mouth campaign company, I got a free, full-size package of Pledge Multi Surface premoistened wipes to try out. The packaging says that each 7 inch x 10 inch wipe may be used on metal, wood, glass, plastics, granite, mirrors or electronics. My initial feeling was one of skepticism, since I didn't see how one wipe could safely clean both my electronics and my wood furniture, and be able to leave glass surfaces streak free.
I used one wipe on my wood kitchen cabinets, and it seemed to do a pretty good job removing fingerprints and the pollen that collects there when the windows are open. So far, so good. With a fresh wipe, I dusted the screens of my laptop and desktop computers, and the keyboards as well. That wipe still had some life left in it, so I used it to wipe the desk where the laptop sits. Then I took a third wipe and used it on the face of my microwave and the stovetop (both of which are black), and then the faucet at my kitchen sink. Here's where the trouble started. The wipe left streaks on the microwave and stovetop, as well as on the chrome faucet. I flipped the wipe over and tried again, but still ended up with streaks. Ack! No matter how I tried, I ended up with streaky surfaces.
I've concluded that these wipes are okay for use on plastics like keyboard keys and plastic toys, as well as on sealed wood like kitchen cabinets. But beyond that, they fall short. All-purpose wipes are a great idea, but this product needs a bit more work.
