Portable Music Recorder By Zoom By G Lee on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Zoom provides a nice quality portable music recording aimed for the musician. It is fairly small, runs on 2 AA batteries and includes features such as: SD card compatibility, 2 quality onboard microphones positioned at 90 degrees to each other to provide a dimensional recording rather than regular straight focused sound, 2 XLR 1/4" combination input that supports phantom microphones as well as standard 1/4" input, a 1/8" output to add headphones to monitor, and up to 4 tracks simultaneous recording mode which allows up to four channels to be recorded at a time. This unit can be found at around the $300 price mark and is not very inviting for someone that is looking for a cheaper solution to recording their tracks but it provides plenty of features for the price point. This is great for a band starting out and can be connected to the computer very easily with the mini USB connection. A DC adaptor is also included as well as a trial version of Cubase. This can be fairly easy to use but also includes more intricate features for the musician that desires more control in their recordings. This is a great device for portable recording as well as a decent price solution to session recordings.
