This piece or equipment was originally designed as an orbital sander, but has since become a trusted tool of many car detailers. After many years of wanting one, I finally bought my on and have loved it ever since. It is a random-action orbital buffer, and has varibale speed settings, so it is almost impossible to burn through the paint of a car you are buffing, which has always been a big concern among those getting started in automotive detailing. With the simple addition of a velcro backing plate you can change different density and abrasiveness pads very quickly and easily. This also allows you to still use it as a sander by velcroing sanding discs to it as well. The machine comes wtih a detachable handle, that is helpful, however it is not necessary as the buffer is very lightweght and easy to control. I have loved the results I have achieved with this tool, and recommend it to anyone looking for a good buffer.
