Portishead Third album
By ooncha onA friend of mine gave me her copy of Portishead's new album named Third. You haven't heard of them, they are a trip hop, electronica trio from Bristol, England. They made 3 albums in the 90s and they all have done very well. They have't done an album in 10 years since then! And now the trio returns with a totally different and new sound. The songs are raw, heavy, and lots of beats. The full release isn't until April 28th, and I'm not sure how people are getting them already but I guess the UK gets it first than the rest of the world?
This is an amazing album, I totally fell in love with it when I first heard it. I've always liked Portishead's music and they have this unique sound to them that make them who they are. The songs have a very eerie and melancholic sound that compliments Beth Gibbons haunting voice. Later in the album, the songs starts to relax alittle and surprise, and unexpected pleasant ukuele ballad, "Deep Water" after a song like"We Carry On" which sounds like it'll go well with a horror flick. After "Deep Water"is "Machine Gun" which is a lovely song fitting for war. The album has a great mix of organic and synthetic sounds. The album is truly dark and people have complained how this album was far from perfect but yet it's definitely a great comeback album.

Now this sounds pretty cool & you are right-I have not heard of them!!!!!!
I have never heard of them. I also have never heard of trip hop, electronica, wow I am way out of touch because I have no idea what that is. I will have to ask my teenager if she can explain this to me and if she has heard of them. She is always looking for new music to listen to.
Sounds very interesting. Thanks for sharing the information. I like listening to different kinds of music.
I love Portishead. And a ukuele ballad? Gotta check that out!
I don't think I have ever heard of Potishead before. I guess I am not really up to date on music anymore lol. I have a boring life! Thanks for telling me about their music though. Now I am at least a little more informed =-)
