Precor Elliptical Efx 5.23 By verjavec on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
We've owned a few treadmills and each of them ended up dying quickly. When my knees started to bug me, then we started to think about getting an elliptical. We wanted to invest wisely this time so that we wouldn't need to purchase a new one 6 mos down the road. We talked with the salesperson about our concerns and he recommended the Precor EFX 5.23.
We are really enjoying this elliptical. It doesn't have the moving arms. I always had trouble balancing while holding on to those things, so I didn't want them. The incline and the resistance are adjustable and it has 14 different pre-programmed routines for your exercising pleasure.
This machine will even store the info for 2 users. It will use that information to display a more accurate tally of calories burned. It can also be used for the heart rate monitor graph. This graph displays when your heart rate is in the weight loss zone or the cardio zone and even lets you know when you are working too hard or not hard enough.
While you are using it, it displays your number of strides, your calories burned, and distance traveled. I like to keep track of the total number of strides I managed per workout as it gives me something to compete against.
The strides are smooth and comfortable. I don't feel awkward at all on this machine. I feel we made a great purchase and it is the one workout I have been able to keep up consistently.

I have considered this brand before. Nice to know the information.
Great information. A bit pricey but I wish you luck with it,
I have considered trying these machines. Consistency has always been a problem for me. I try it for a while and then give up. Before I buy anything like this, I want to know that I will stick to it. thanks for sharing the information on this product.
This sounds like a great machine for the price. We had priced a few at the beginning of the year for those new years resolutions but could not find one that had what we were looking for at a price we could afford. I am with you on the counting strides and stuff. When I use a machine like this yime means nothing to me and it's a great incentive to keep going a little longer if you are trying to up your personal best.
That's wonderful that you have stuck with this-it probably seems like you're not even working out!
I agree that I like to have the machine keep track so I can compete with myself. Don't think this will ever be in our budget though!
Sounds like a great machine but the price tag is a little too much for me.
Wow. What steep price. I hope this one lasts for a while for you:0)
This Sounds Like A Great Machine! And You Seem Very Happy With It! Thanks For Sharing!
