Prescription Vs Non Prescription Allergy Pills By Gail Ikerd on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Do you suffer from allergies? My son had a very lengthy ear operation a few years ago. He was suffering with constant ear infections and had been placed on many different prescriptions medicines including ear drops, antibiotics and prescription allergy medications. The doctor decided to take him off of his prescription allergy pills this summer to see how he would do. I was worried at first because he hadn't had an ear infection since his surgery and I didn't want him to develop one. He was doing fine until he came down with a summer cold. I called the doctor and they had me give him Benadryl.

The Benadryl dried up the excess fluids that usually develop with his head colds. Benadryl comes in pill form for adults and older children and also comes in a liquid form for younger kids who can't swallow pills. Give Benadryl a try and see if doesn't help your allergy symptoms!
