Presidian GMRSFRS 2-Way Radios

This is a great little set of walkie talkies that we got our son for Christmas. He had asked Santa for them when he saw him and wrote him a letter asking for a set of walkie talkies. We did not want to spend ton of money on them given the fact that our son is only 6 years old and may not take care of them the way an older child or adult might. This set was inexpensive at $19.99 and works great for our needs. My son likes to give one to me and then he goes to another part of the house and talks to me. It's a lot fun when he has friends over as they can split up and talk to one another.

The reason I like them is that he is an only child and sometimes will play outside by himself. We are in a rural area which is pretty safe-but as a mom you always worry about your kids. With these walkies I can send him out to play with one and I can keep in touch with him from inside while I get stuff done around the house. He can go to other parts of the yard where I can't see him but I can still call him in when dinner is ready, etc.

They are supposed to be good up to a five mile radius, but for our needs I have not needed to test the range. They do work well around my 1 acre yard. They are small and easy for little hands to control. They are fun for the whole family and would be great on a family trip.

The one suggestion I would give when buying these is to make sure you use rechargeable batteries. It was very disappointing to have brand new batteries die after literally less than 5 minutes. You finally get the walkies both on the same channel and then they go dead. Rechargeable ones have lasted almost a month so far and still going strong!
