Prevacid Dissolvable Tablets For Kids By Mom2One on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My son has been taking Prevacid 15 mg since he was around 4 years old. He suffers from acid reflux and this has been a lifesaver for him.

Before getting on this medicine, he would suffer with stomach aches and heartburn, sometimes so bad he would get sick.

The doctor decided to try this medicine. The reason being is this medicine come in a dissolvable form, which was perfect since my son, was only 4 at the time and could not swallow pills.

All he does is take this once in the morning and once before bed. It can be taken with or without water. He just places it on his tongue and it just magically dissolves.

Last August his doctor wanted to try to wean him off this medicine to see if his reflux was better. Within a few weeks of going off the Prevacid, his stomachaches were back and so were the heartburn issues. So we went back on Prevacid and all is fine.

So this drug does work!

I will warn not many insurance companies are covering this drug anymore. There are cheaper generic drugs on the market. The only bad thing is they don't come in a dissolvable form. My son is 8 years old but he still has a lot of trouble swallowing pills whole, so we really need the dissolvable.

Luckily with my son's doctor's help we were able to get it approve so my insurance will cover it. There is a $20 co pay with it, but the retail cost of it would be $305, so I am not going to complain about $20.

I would recommend this drug, especially for young kids that suffer from reflux problems.
