I could not resist trying out this nice triple trunking handheld scanner as it lay on the shelf on my weekend expedition to Radio Shack. This scanner felt pretty solid to the touch and as soon as I turned it on it was scanning away. It was not long before it tuned in the local police officers in the field. They sounded very crisp and clear. This made a great impression on me right off the bat.
It also scans in fire department frequencies as well as skywarn workers who are out spotting various weather phenomena. I was very impressed with this scanner and if I was going to purchase a scanner at this point I would have purchased it on the spot.
Currently it is on sale for 179.99. That is marked down from 219.99. One other thing I really liked that I should mention is that it comes with pc interface for programming. That should make programming it pretty easy. This is another very nice radio product from Radio Shack. A very nice Christmas present for the radio enthusiast in the family.
One of my Deputies bought a Tripple Trunk Tracker (20-164) and has had an annurism trying to program it to our county Motorola Trunk System. I'm a 40 year radio Veteran,and I'm not doing a lot better! I've got it hearing a few of our Chan's but won't ignore control channels noise and won't self adopt the system. I've got the prog. cable, but nobody seems to have a local system program to lay into it! Hears great,but needs a course at J.C. to program!
