This review guide is probably one the best preparation books to study from before taking the Certified Coding Associate examination. It is basically composed of questions from six different subject areas which appear on the actual test. These topics include health records and data content, health information requirements and standards, clinical classification systems, reimbursement methodologies, information technology and health care delivery, and privacy, legal, and ethical issues. Besides providing questions, this guide gives background information about coding techniques and special rules concerning certain codes like V and E codes. However, one improvement that could be made would be to add additional information about health care data and medical organizations. Moreover, this book contains a cd which has all the questions and answers from the book. Students can save the data from the cd onto their computer so that they can review questions directly from their monitor instead of looking through the book. All in all, this is a helpful guide for those who are preparing for their CCA exam.
