Puss Boots Shawnee Cookie Jar
By Zula onYears ago, I purchased a Shawnee "Puss & Boots" cat cookie jar at an estate sale. It was my first piece of Shawnee Pottery and the beginning of a quest to find other pieces of the set. The cookie jar was made in the late 1940s.
Later, I purchased a "Puss & Boots" creamer and salt & pepper to match the cookie jar. All of the pottery pieces are very well made and durable. The cats display very well together and they're easy to care for. They are adorable!
Shawnee Pottery was located in Zanesville, Ohio beginning in 1937. The company closed the doors in 1961. They produced kitchenware, dinnerware and art pottery. Some are highly prized by collectors today.
The "Puss & Boots" cookie jar and "go withs" can be found at estate sales, antique malls, trade shows, flea markets and on the internet. Prices will vary depending on condition and rarity. Those with gold trim will bring higher prices.
