Quick Help With Diarrhea By Cyn Bagley on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Back to the fun medical stuff. When I had my first crisis in 2003 and went into a German hospital, I was having some severe problems with diarrhea because my kidneys were failing. (Yes, I am Okay now) But, the nurses knew of a small pill that helped my problems with diarrhea immensely. Imodium.
Now a few years later, I ate something that didn't agree with me. I started to have some of those same problems. Thankfully, I had enough brain power to remember the OTC medication. And luckily, the medication (Imodium) was here in the U.S.
And, it worked well this time too. I took one pill (an adult can take two pills) after a bowel movement. I only had to take it twice (after the second) before I was back to my regularly scheduled bowel movments.
There are some warnings on the bottle:
1. Don't use if you have black stools. See a doctor.
2. Don't use if you have mucus in your stools. See a doctor.
3. Don't use if you have liver problems.
Anyway, I keep a small bottle around for any incident.
Recently my husband had some problems after a meal at one of our fine restaurants. I finally got him to take one, and the diarrhea was stopped immediately. He was very relieved... and so was I.
