Ray Lamontagne Masterpiece By Munky on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Ray Lamontagne's sophomore album is probably one of the best albums I have purchased in some time. The 11 song album has a wide variety of songs that mix together a variety of genres (folk, country, and blues), instruments (piano, strings, and horns) and lots of different tempos. One of the greatest things about this album is that I would consider it very complete, meaning that although each song is different and unique, they flow together making the full album seamless. When I turn on the CD I feel compelled to listen to everything song, in the exact track order, because otherwise I feel I would be cheating Ray out of what he is trying to say on the album. The emotion that he brings to his music is profound and any astute listener can easily tell that the lyrics Ray have written are meaningful, powerful, and exuberant all at the same time. To anyone who enjoys the singer-songwriter genre and has a passion for musicians who love to make great music, then I strongly recommend that you pick up this album.
