This ball shaped night light was purchased last June for my son. It is 22" in diameter. The on/off switch is located on the cord. It is in true red sox colors of red, white, and blue. When turned on it is bright enough to light up a 12x12 room and scare away all night time monsters. Something that I found strange is that it is called a night light but the instructions say DO NOT USE AS A NIGHT LIGHT. Go figure. We have been using it without incident every night that we've been home since June 2007.

The one issue we did have initially is that when the light is on and the room is otherwise dark it does cast an odd pattern on the ceiling. This was scary for my son and we had to tell him that if it was that big of a problem we would have to return it and he wouldn't have a Red Sox night light anymore. He quickly got over it with lots of convincing of how cool it looked. It casts little shadows in the shape of triangles all over the room. We told him to imagine it was all the fans at Fenway!

All in all it is a great purchase. It looks good in the room and has withstood a lot of use and wear and tear and has needed the bulb changed only once.
