Refresh Conditioner From Trader Joe's By May Monten on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I used this for the first time yesterday. The smell was amazing! It's the best-smelling conditioner I've ever used. It made being in the shower fun!
The label says it's "aroma therapeutic," and I thought that was just label hype, but it's really true. It has a wonderful, invigorating citrus smell, which comes from orange, grapefruit, and tangerine essential oils.
In addition to the smell, the conditioner has a lot going for it. It uses what looks like mostly natural ingredients, it's not tested on animals, and it sells for the super-cheap price of $1.99 for a 16 ounce bottle.
Unfortunately, though, it didn't have enough conditioning power for me. I have curly, frizzy, dry, flyaway hair, and I like to use a heavy-duty conditioner. I usually use Pantene, and the Refresh didn't detangle my wet hair as well as the Pantene does, and my hair was wilder when it dried.
So I would recommend this more for people who like a light conditioner. I'll still use it sometimes to get that amazing tangerines-in-the-shower experience, and I think I'll also try some of the other items in the Refresh line that have the same scent, but for a conditioner for regular use I'm going to have to go with something else.
