Rent A Wreck By kateri27 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
When I was 25 my friend and I traveled to Los Angeles for vacation. We needed to find affordable transportation so after looking at all the big box car rental places we settled on Rent-A-Wreck.
The prices were amazing. I paid $25 a day to rent a car in California. A steal compaired to everything else I found.
I expected that getting a car from a place like Rent-A-Wreck it would be in a scary neighborhood, but this was not the case. It was nicely located in a pleasant neighboorhood on a main street. The service, well you get what you pay for. I am not saying it was a bad experience, just not a good one. they were very direct and too the point and not as personable as I would have liked.
The car was in driveable condition, but not aestetically pleasing. It is rent a wreck so this is to be expected. The interior was rather gross. It looked like someone started to clean it then forgot what they were doing.
All in all the car functioned as it should, the price was affordable, the auto selection was not very big, but we were able to get around LA for a song. This is great for the student on vacation, or the budget minded family who doesn't mind driving in an older car.

This is a great idea-especially if you are tight on your budget or just want to save money for souvenirs on vacation instead of putting the money for a more expensive rental car. As long as it got you from point A to point B, that's the main thing!!!
I love it! Definitely more in my price range. I'm very glad that there are at least options like this, and hey, as you said, you got a drivable car at a reasonable rate. I can do old! Heck, I am old!
This sounds like a company that rents older model cars in Hawaii. It's called V.I.P. rentals. We called it something else....a piece of junk rental. I hope you had better experiences than we did. If you are crunching numbers to make the vacation work...sometimes it is a good option. I could see this being more geared for the students on vacation.
I've never heard of this company! Guess they take their name seriously based on your description of the car. But at least it was cheap:0)
I honestly don't think that I could rent a vehiccle from a business named Rent-a-Wreck. I would be totally freaked out! I would rather pay a little more and feel clean when I sit in the vehicle.
Sounds great if your on a tight budget but the name of the company is really kind of strange...LOL!!!
LMAO! I love the name of the company, deffinately eye catching. I have never heard of them either, but the name is a hoot!
My brother used to rent from this company with his pals, as Rent-A-Wreck had beat up cars to begin with so they figured they were free game! I would hate to tell you the things that they used to do over the weekend with one of these cars!!!
Interesting! I couldn't believe the title was actually the name of the rental business! Thanks for the info. It is good to know alternative options from the well-known car rental agencies.
My husband used our local Rent A Wreck in Fairfield California for years. I'm sorry your experience was so awful! We had very clean vehicles, exemplary service and absolutely great rates on our rentals,
