Retro Lawn Chairs For Your Patio By Alice on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I remember from my childhood days that we had a pair of these chairs in our backyard and have always wanted a set for my yard.
A few years ago I was garage sale hunting on my lunch hour when I happened upon these retro looking vintage metal chairs. They were in excellent condition with only one coat of paint of them and very little rust.
I immediately sat in them so no one else could claim them and waved over to the owner that I was getting these. They were actually marked $30.00 and she let me have them for $25.00.
Imagine my husband when I brought them home and said I had another little project for him! He knows me too well so the next day when I got home he had them all taken apart, had sanded them to remove the rust and primed them.
I went to Lowe's and picked out white rustoleum for the legs and arms and MSU green for the seat and back. After two coats they looked beautiful and were screwed back together and put out on a front patio area.
These metal chairs stand 33" tall and 22" wide, with the seat a comfotable 30" deep. They bounce when you sit on them and need only to be stored for the winter and checked occasionally for any new rust (especially the bottom of the legs that sit and scrape on concrete patio stones).
For a nostalgiac piece of garden or patio furniture I would recommend keeping an eye out for these at garage sales or ebay. Sit and relax for a while!

My grandmother had some of these chairs. I think will see if they are still around.
