Revenge Of The Middle Aged Woman By Demon_Buttercup on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

I received the book Revenge of the Middle-Aged Woman by Elizabeth Buchan as a gift from a survey club I belong to. I was intrigued by the the usual, almost cliche concept of the story...Husband and wife have been married for 25 years, husband has an affair, leaves his wife, and his wife is devastated. From the title, I assumed the book would be full of vengence and thus a thrilling read.

The book did indeed prove itself to be riveting, but not thrilling. The outcome taught me that sometimes the best revenge is to succeed for yourself. There can be no better outcome but to live better after something like this happens.

Yet I found the heroine of the story, Rose, rather weak. I wanted to tell her to pull up her big girl panties and get on with it. I felt she was just too kind, and I wonder if any woman would really be that generous if put in the same situation.

Overall this a well written entertaining book full of unique characters.

I remember when I was first divored. My x tried his best to put me down..but everything he did just added fuel to my personal fire, so to speak, and yes...succeeding in your goals is the best revenge!
