Four Wheel Work Horse

I bought my Big Bear 400 new back in 2004. I have spent a fair amount of time on it since then. When I first purchased it I did a lot of trail riding and pipe line riding etc. I have to say that while good for lower speed riding, the Big Bear is not geared for speed. Max top speed is around 40 MPH or so. First gear on the BB is pretty much useless unless your pulling on something, it's so low that shortly after beginning to roll you have to let off to change out. I purchased the 2 wheel drive model, and I'm really kind of glad because after riding some four wheel drive ATV's I just don't like the way they handle, the extra price and front end weight is undesirable to me. I would recommend just getting a 2WD like I did and spring for a winch, it will bridge the gap and then some between 2 and 4 wheel drive. I would recommend this ATV to people wanting to ride around through the woods, maybe do a little yard and farm work. This is not for the speed lovers though.
