I've had State Farm Homeowners Insurance for 2 years. I am very dissatisfied with the price I paid. I got my insurance in 2005 when I bought my house. I expected to pay a little bit more when I bought my house because I was 18 when I purchased it. When I purchased my house I was paying $936 a year for $100,000 coverage for my structure. In 2006 my bill went up to $1,050 and my home value went up to $110,000. I figured the price increase was because of the home value increase so I just paid it and went on with my life. This year I got my bill and it said my new price was $1,256 for $111,000 coverage. I couldn't stand to pay that much when I know my parents pay $1200 a year on their home that is valued at $250,000. I called to ask several time over the two years I had State Farm if there was anything I could do to lower my bill and I was told I had the lowest price possible because I already had a multi-policy discount because I had my auto insurance with them, I had a fire hydrant within 1,000 feet of my home and I had a security system. I do want to add that the customer service in my local branch was horrible and anytime I asked any questions I felt like I was inconveniencing them and that they had more important things to do then answer any of my questions. The funny thing is whenever I went into the office to pay my bill it seemed to me like no one was ever busy working. Back to the prices, I shopped around with some other companies and found that Allstate could insure me for the same exact coverages for $750 a year. Needless to say I switched to Allstate and never looked back.

Wow, that price is pretty high, I pay a lot less than that for $200,000+ coverage on my home through Allstate. Glad you were able to find a more reasonably priced policy.
Sorry to hear of your experience with SF. We have had coverage with them for almost 20 years, and are very satisfied. We have a local agent that we know, which may help.
Very wise of you to switchto Allstate , since the service is poor and the price is high and ever increasing too.
