I suffer from occasional back problems and when they hit, they can be pretty painful and uncomfortable. I have relied on Extra Strength Icy Hot, an analgesic cream, for quite a while.  It is a deep heating rub especially geared towards achy muscles and joints, arthritis and other minor maladies.  It comes in different forms, such as cream, sleeve or patch, but I prefer the topical cream that can be easily massaged into the painful area.  Just as its name suggests, it has a cool, then warming effect when it is rubbed in.  It really helps to dull the pain in my back and the tingling sensation really feels good. It allows me to move without hurting.   Of course, there is a drawback.  It contains menthol and a few other accompanying ingredients that make it smell just awful.  My husband says he can smell it, no matter where he goes in the apartment to try to get away from it.  It just permeates the whole atmosphere.  As annoying as that may be, however, it is a small trade-off to get the pain-relieving benefits of Extra Strength Icy Hot cream. You can find it at most drugstores and places like Wal-Mart, Target and even grocery stores.  It isn't cheap, but it is well worth the price for the relief it brings.
