This is Madonna's second disc and the one that really made her a household name. It has the big hits that everyone is probably familiar with: Like a Virgin, Material Girl, and Dress You Up. In addition to those songs, the rest of the collection is quite good albeit in a more understated way.
Angel was released as a single and hit the top of the charts, but the lack of an accompanying video may explain why it seems to be all but forgotten today. It is a beautiful song that seems a bit of a precursor to her later hit song, Cherish. Love Don't Live Here Anymore is a cover of an older song that even with Madonna's (at the time) limited vocal range comes across quite powerful. The song would get a second life in the nineties when it was released as a single off her ballads collection.
Some of the other songs on the album like Over and Over and Pretender are fun dance songs.
This is a fun album and a more mature and polished effort than her debut disc.
