My Experiences:

In redoing my son's room I decided we decided to do a nautical theme, kind of.  Rather than painting (since that tends to get messy), we decided to get a huge wall map of the world.  It added just the right amount of color with the blues and greens of the oceans and land masses.

I found this map online at  Rand McNally's store.  It comes either laminated OR plain.  The map comes in eight separate "panels" so that it is easier to hang on the wall.  The size when it is done is about eight by thirteen feet.  

My son loves being able to locate countries and oceans that he hears about.  So, not only did it add to the look of his decor, it provides an educational value as well:0)
